Perfusion culture

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Perfusion culture is a type of cell culture used in biotechnology or medical research.

The incubation reactor with the cell culture is continuously flushed by a medium flow. This ensures a constant concentration ratio of the nutrients , growth factors, antibiotics etc., a removal of metabolic end products and an imitation of natural physiological and metabolic environmental conditions ( blood circulation , diffusion and circulation of tissue fluid).
