Perifocal edema

As Perifokalödem or perifocal edema are edema (Flüssigkeitsdurchtränkungen) in intact body tissue referred to, which are caused by metabolic or breakdown products of immediately adjacent situated tumors that damage the capillary walls. Perifocal edema is of clinical importance especially in brain tumors because of the increase in pressure in the brain that it causes . In addition, perifocal edema is also caused by inflammation , for example around abscesses or bleeding .
