Percale

Percale , also Percaline ( Percale , Persian پرگاله pargālah) is a finer fabric made of cotton . It can have different surface treatments, for example a strong finish . Also, the surface can be gummed be to leather to imitate. In some cases it can therefore be difficult to distinguish from synthetic leather.

It was for linings and especially in the 19th century as a cover material for book covers of Verlagseinbänden used. These are also commonly referred to as fabric tape .

Today it is used, among other things, as a cover material for upholstered furniture .
