Pernille Vermund

Ann Pernille Vermund Tvede (born December 3, 1975 in København ) is a Danish architect, entrepreneur, right-wing populist politician and founder of the Nye Borgerlige (New Bourgeois) party. She has been based in Folketinget, Denmark, since 2019.

Life, education and work

Ann Pernille Vermund completed her training as a cand.arch. at Kunstakademiets Arkitektskole 2001. In her final project “Youth Apartments for Asylum Seekers”, she argued for asylum homes in the city center instead of placing them outside the big cities and created the architecture behind them. As an entrepreneur, she founded a successful architecture firm.

In 2011 she divorced her husband, with whom she has three children. On May 11, 2019, she married the 19-year-old millionaire and entrepreneur Lars Tvede.

Political career

Conservative folk party

In 2009 Pernille Vermund was elected to Helsingør City Council. Two years later, she retired from politics because of the divorce with her husband. In 2014 she was a candidate for the Folketinget for the Helsingør constituency. The following year she became first deputy to Mette Abildgaard, the party's political spokesperson. However, Pernille Vermund resigned from the party in the same year and founded Nye Borgerlige.

Nye Borgerlige

In October 2015, Pernille Vermund and Seier Christensen founded the right-wing populist party Nye Borgerlige, which was initially called Ny Conservative. The party is free market and against asylum. The party has three key points from which they must not deviate and which any party that wants their support must fulfill:

  1. A complete asylum freeze
  2. Foreigners have to be able to support themselves
  3. Criminal foreigners should be expelled at the first judgment

The party is market-liberal and wants to privatize job centers, for example. The party's motto is Mindre Stat Mere Menneske (Smaller State, More People). The party's conviction is to get better social systems through privatization and decentralization, and by only protecting Danish citizens from the welfare state, tax money should also be saved. The party wants to do more for the socially disadvantaged as long as they are Danish citizens.
