A few kilometers to the northeast there is a former airfield, the former Royal Air Force Station Pershore or RAF Pershore for short . The airfield was opened by the Royal Air Force in 1940 and served as an escape point for Vulcan bombers during the Cold War .
Today the former military airfield is called QinetiQ Pershore or Throckmorton Airfield . The company QinetiQ operates the facility as a test center and business park, and the "Throckmorton Air Show" has been taking place here since 2010.
