QinetiQ is a British defense and research company founded in June 2001 .
history
The company emerged from the Defense Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA), which was privatized in June 2001, a research laboratory of the British Ministry of Defense. It became a public-private partnership in 2002 and the US private equity investor Carlyle Group acquired around 33.8% of the shares. In 2003 the company went public on the London Stock Exchange and is represented in the FTSE 250 index .
Since 2004, the company has also owned the US arms company Foster-Miller , based in Waltham (Massachusetts) , which produces military robots, and the US Westar Aerospace & Defense Group.
In May 2018, QinetiQ took over the EIS Aircraft Operations division from the German EIS Aircraft Group for 70 million euros, which since 1999 has also taken over targeting with Pilatus PC-9 and Pilatus PC-12 aircraft for the Bundeswehr and other NATO partners .
