history

inner space

On July 3, 2013, the Warsaw tram operator published a tender for 30 one-way vehicles in low-floor technology with microprocessor control. Two of the 30 vehicles should be suitable for driving school operations. On October 25, 2013 it was announced that Pesa from Bydgoszcz was the only bidder. The contract was signed on January 15, 2014 in Warsaw City Hall in the presence of Mayor Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz and Deputy Polish Transport Minister Adam Zdziebło.

The plan was to put the first jazz into operation in February 2015 and the last jazz by September 30, 2015. The first vehicle, the articulated multiple unit 3801, did not reach Warsaw until March 10, 2015, and the first test drives were carried out in April. Problems with the vehicle electronics led to delays and a contractual penalty on the part of the tram company against the manufacturer Pesa. Approval was finally granted in July; the first trips with passengers took place on July 30, 2015. The second vehicle was delivered in September 2015, which was initially only used for staff training.

Technology and equipment

Driver's cab with computer terminal

The Pesa Jazz of the type 134N consists of three parts, whereby the A-part and C-part have driven drives in which each wheel is driven individually. By dispensing with axles , the low floor height can be maintained throughout. The middle section is hung between the end cars as a sedan chair. There are four doors on the right-hand side of the vehicle: two single-leaf sliding doors at the ends of the vehicle and two double-leaf sliding doors in the middle section. A video surveillance system and a passenger information system with LCD monitors are installed in the interior .

The Jazz has a regenerative brake in which the braking energy is stored in super capacitors .
