Pete (magazine)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pete - A magazine for young people was a magazine that was published in Germany between 1951 and 1962.

Author and publisher

The issue No. 1 with 32 pages was published on October 8, 1951 under the title Das Nachtgespenst . All issues were published by Uta-Verlag , which specializes in trivial literature and which was taken over by Erich Pabel Verlag in Rastatt in 1961. The eponymous stories were written by Joachim Rennau under the pseudonym Rolf Randall . In addition to the 200 editions of the booklet, there were another 50 Pete books, which at times came out in 1978 in the Hanoverian Günther-Wagner-Pelikan-Werke GmbH (later: Pelikan AG). The illustrations on the front page were mostly from Klaus Dill , who also drew film posters.

Content

In addition to stories about the eponymous boy Pete, who played in the fictional town of Somerset in the Wild West at the end of the 19th century, the editions contained articles with interesting facts for young people. The stories are about children and young people around Pete Simmers, who often hunt down criminals, expose injustices or just carry out small feuds with neighboring children.

There were also youth clubs for the series. The groups emulated the characters of the novel to do good, similar to a boy scout group. The booklet was used for communication between the clubs. In addition, the editors printed messages from the individual clubs.
