The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation ( DTCC ) is an American central securities depository and clearinghouse . It emerged in 1999 from a merger of the private companies Depository Trust Company (DTC) and National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC) , enforced by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the US Congress .

DTCC also handles clearing for the new electronic exchange Turquoise through its wholly-owned subsidiary EuroCCP . EuroCCP is also the central counterparty for the multilateral trading system NYSE Arca Europe and for SmartPool , a dark pool .

In autumn 2008, DTCC announced that it would increase its 15.8% stake in LCH.Clearnet and take over the company completely, which would make DTCC the world's largest clearinghouse .

The Fixed Income Clearing Corporation (FICC) subsidiary is responsible for clearing fixed income securities in the United States.
