The company LCH.Clearnet is one of the largest European clearing houses , also known as central counterparty acts.

history

The LCH.Clearnet Group was created in 2003 through the merger of the London Clearing House and Clearnet SA.

LCH.Clearnet belonged to 73.3% different customers, 10.9% different exchanges and 15.8% of Euroclear . The London Stock Exchange has been the majority owner since March 2012 .

In May 2009, LCH.clearnet announced that it would also offer clearing for the multilateral trading systems Chi-X Europe , Bats Trading Europe , Turquoise and NYSE Arca Europe during the course of the year .

It was also announced in May 2009 that a consortium made up of the broker ICAP and 10 investment banks ( Barclays , Citigroup , Deutsche Bank , HSBC , JPMorgan Chase & Co. , Nomura Holdings , Morgan Stanley , Royal Bank of Scotland , Société Générale and UBS ) tried To take over LCH.Clearnet for around 813 million euros.

Takeover by the London Stock Exchange

On September 27, 2011, the London Stock Exchange (LSE) confirmed that it was holding exclusive talks with LCH.Clearnet for the purpose of a takeover by LSE. On March 9, 2012, the London Stock Exchange announced that it had reached a takeover agreement with LCH.Clearnet. Accordingly, the LSE plans to acquire a stake of at least 51% and a maximum of 60%. The purchase price is EUR 463 million.
