Rudolf Menzer (born July 10, 1904 in Frankfurt am Main ; † August 12, 1991 in Frankfurt am Main) was a Hessian politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Hessian state parliament .

education and profession

After elementary school, Rudolf Menzer did a craft apprenticeship. He then attended technical college and continued his education at technical schools and the adult education center.

politics

Before 1933 Rudolf Menzer was chairman of the Young Socialists and their representative on the board of the SPD in Frankfurt am Main. From 1933 to 1945 he could only be politically active illegally. In 1945 he participated in the re-establishment of the SPD in Frankfurt am Main and southern Hesse and was a member of the Citizens' Council of the City of Frankfurt am Main, where he was spokesman for the SPD group.

In the local elections in 1946 he was elected as a city councilor. From July 1946 he was a full-time city councilor and head of human resources and from 1960 to 1966 mayor of the city of Frankfurt am Main. His successor as mayor was Wilhelm Fay (CDU).

From December 1, 1966 to November 30, 1970 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament.

Honors

In 1954 Rudolf Menzer received the plaque of honor from the city of Frankfurt am Main . The Rudolf Menzer facility in Frankfurt-Niederrad is named after him. His grave in the Frankfurt main cemetery (Gewann D) is a grave of honor .
