Pruské (German Pruskau or Prußkau , Hungarian Poroszka - until 1902 Pruszka ) is a municipality in western Slovakia . It is located in the Waag Valley at the foot of the White Carpathians , 5 km from Ilava and 25 km from Trenčín .
The oldest surviving mention comes from 1244, as terra Pruska . The name (literally " Prussian ") comes from the first settlers of the community who came from Silesia and Prussia. The village has a castle from the 16th century, a Franciscan church from the 17th century and a Roman Catholic church from the 18th century. In 1973 Savčina-Podvažie and Bohunice were incorporated (until 1999), and in 1979 Krivoklát and Vršatské Podhradie were added. The latter became independent municipalities again in 1990.
In addition to the main town, the municipality is also divided into the districts Podvažie and Savčina (incorporated in 1973 as the twin town of Savčina-Podvažie).
