Červený Kameň (until 1927 also "Červeňkameň" in Slovak; German Rotenstein or Rothenstein , Hungarian Vöröskő ) is a place and a municipality in northwestern Slovakia , with 686 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), in the Okres Ilava (part of the Trenčiansky kraj ) lies.
geography
The municipality is located in the northern part of the White Carpathians in the valley of the same name by the Tovarský creek . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 361 m nm at the lower end of the municipality, further up the valley in the mountains are the hamlets of Trokanovo, Nebrová and Zápechová, where there is a small border crossing to Nedašova Lhota in the Czech Republic . The nearest towns are Ilava , 14 kilometers south and Púchov , 20 kilometers east (distances via the road network).
Above the main town is the protected natural formation Bradlo, a rock, the color of which gives the municipality its name.

The place is first mentioned in writing in 1354 as Wereskew .
