Tuchyňa (until 1927 Slovak "Tuchyňa"; Hungarian Tohány - until 1907 Tuchina ) is a municipality in the northwest of Slovakia with 792 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which in Okres Ilava of, part kraj Trenčiansky lies.
geography
The municipality is located in the northern part of the White Carpathians in the valley of Tovarský potok . The center of the village is located at an altitude of 275 m nm and is seven kilometers from Ilava and 15 kilometers from Púchov .
Neighboring municipalities are Mikušovce in the north, Dulov in the east, Pruské in the south and west and Vršatské Podhradie in the north-west.
history
In the municipality of Tuchyňa there was a settlement of the Lusatian culture in the Hallstatt period and the Puchau culture at the turn of the ages.
The place Tuchyňa was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1243 as Tuhine and was in the territory of the Vršatec Castle , which ran a farm here. The village was partly owned by the local landed gentry. In 1598 there were 44 houses in the village, in 1720 29 taxpayers lived here. After 1720 there was a division into the independent places Panská Tuchyňa (Hungarian Urasági-Tuchina ) and Zemianska Tuchyňa (Hungarian Nemes-Tuchina ), which reunited in the course of the 19th century. In 1784 Panská Tuchyňa had 59 houses and 373 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 59 houses and 438 inhabitants. In the same years Zemianska Tuchyňa had 11 houses and 38 inhabitants and 8 houses and 92 inhabitants, respectively. The main sources of income for the population were agriculture and fruit growing.
The place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia or Slovakia. In 1919 the inhabitants founded a cooperative fruit distillery.

According to the 2011 census, Tuchyňa had 778 inhabitants, including 765 Slovaks , three Czechs , two Poles and one Rome . Seven residents did not provide any information about their ethnicity .
733 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, six residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident to the Greek Catholic Church; two residents professed a different denomination. 18 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 18 residents was not determined.
