Borčice (Hungarian Borcsic ) is a municipality in the northwest of Slovakia with 655 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which in Okres Ilava of, part kraj Trenčiansky lies.
geography
The village is located in the Ilavská kotlina basin , a part of Považské podolie , on the right bank of the Váh . Northern parts of the municipal area are characterized by the hilly mountain base of the White Carpathians . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 223 m nm and is six kilometers from Dubnica nad Váhom and 12 kilometers from Ilava .
Neighboring municipalities are Bolešov in the north and east, Dubnica nad Váhom in the south-east, Nemšová in the south-west and west and Horné Srnie in the north-west.
history
Borčice was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1238 as Bork and at that time belonged to the dominion of Trenčín Castle , later to the property of the landed nobility. In 1598 there were 20 houses in the village, in 1720 13 taxpayers lived here. In 1784 the village had 41 houses, 41 families and 229 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 33 houses and 302 inhabitants who were employed as farmers.
The place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia or Slovakia.
From 1979 to 1990 Borčice was part of the Bolešov municipality.

According to the 2011 census, there were 420 inhabitants in Borčice, including 416 Slovaks and two Czechs . Two residents did not provide any information about their ethnicity .
375 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church, three residents the Evangelical Church AB and one resident of the Orthodox Church. 32 residents had no denomination and the denomination of nine residents was not determined.

traffic
The Nemšová – Lednické Rovne railway runs near Borčice, although it has not been used for regular passenger traffic since 2003. The second order road 507 passes through the village on the section between Nemšová and Púchov .
