Bolešov (Hungarian Bolesó ) is a municipality in the northwest of Slovakia with a population of 1,556 (December 31, 2019), which in Okres Ilava , part of Trenčín Region is located.
geography
The village is located in the central part of the Ilavská kotlina basin on the right bank of the Váh . To the north-northwest of the village, the municipality merges into the White Carpathians and is covered in its entirety by auboils and brown forest soils. The center of the village is located at an altitude of 230 m nm and is six kilometers from Dubnica nad Váhom and eleven kilometers from Ilava .
Neighboring municipalities are Krivoklát in the north, Kameničany in the east, Dubnica nad Váhom in the south, Borčice in the west and Horné Srnie in the north-west.
history
Bolešov was first mentioned as Bolleso in 1331 and belonged to the lower nobility in the Middle Ages. In 1828 there were 33 houses and 554 inhabitants who were employed in agriculture and pottery.
The place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia or Slovakia. In 1943 the neighboring village of Piechov was incorporated and is no longer part of the municipality.
1979-1990 Borčice, Kameničany, Sedmerovec and Slavnica were also part of the municipality.
population
According to the 2011 census, 1526 inhabitants lived in Bolešov, of which 1443 were Slovaks, ten Czechs and one each Magyar and Russian. 71 residents did not answer. 1330 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 16 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, six residents to the Apostolic Church, two residents each to the Mormons, the Seventh-day Adventists and the Jewish community and one resident each to the Jehovah's Witnesses and to the Greek Catholic Church; one resident was of a different denomination. 72 residents had no denomination and 93 residents had no denomination.
