Bohunice (1948 to 1960 Slovak "Bohunice nad Váhom"; Hungarian Vágbánya - until 1902 Bohunic ) is a municipality in the Okres Ilava in Slovakia . Bohunice is located in the Stredné Považie region at the foot of the White Carpathians .
history
The first written mention of the village comes from 1229 - as Terra Bohwnycz . The inhabitants were mostly farmers who farmed, raised cattle and made brandy.
Bohunice was affected by both world wars. 17 residents were killed during the First World War. There were no fatalities in the Second World War. In the garden of the mansion described below, German units stored ammunition and operated a repair shop.
From 1973 to July 31, 1999, the municipality was incorporated into the neighboring municipality of Pruské .
One of the few archaeological finds are mammoth teeth, which were excavated in 1945 but damaged.
Attractions
There is a neo-Gothic manor house built by the Mednyanski family in the village. In 1866 a chapel was built in the garden, in which the family crypt is located. The mansion was completely renovated in 2010–2012 and is as shown. The chapel is currently being scientifically examined and the renovation is also being prepared.
