Kameničany (until 1927 Slovak and "Kamenčany"; Hungarian Köveskő - until 1907 Kamencsan or Kamencsán ) is a municipality in the northwest of Slovakia with 551 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which in Okres Ilava of, part kraj Trenčiansky lies.
geography
The village is located in the central part of the Ilavská kotlina basin , a part of Považské podolie , on the right bank of the Váh . Northern parts of the municipal area are characterized by the hilly mountain base of the White Carpathians . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 237 m nm and is seven kilometers from Dubnica nad Váhom and nine kilometers from Ilava .
Neighboring municipalities are Krivoklát in the north, Slavnica in the east, Dubnica nad Váhom in the south and Bolešov in the west.
history
Kameničany was first in 1193 as Kemenchen mentioned in writing and was owned by the country noble family Köveskői temporarily within a 14th century Graner Crusader Convention. From the 15th to the 18th century the village was owned by the Urbanovszky , Hrabovszky , Marszovszky and Nozdroviczky families . There was a Trinitarian monastery and cemetery in Kút Street . In 1598 there were 33 houses in the village, in 1720 18 taxpayers lived here. In 1784 the village had 55 houses, 63 families and 368 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 44 houses and 484 who were employed as farmers.
The place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia or Slovakia.
From 1979 to 1990 Kameničany was part of the Bolešov municipality.

According to the 2011 census, Kameničany had 518 inhabitants, including 494 Slovaks , six Roma and one Czech . 17 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .
484 residents confessed to the Roman Catholic Church, two residents to the Reformed Church and one resident each to the Jehovah's Witnesses and one to the Evangelical Church AB. 13 residents were non-denominational and the denomination of 17 residents was not determined.

traffic
The Nemšová – Lednické Rovne railway runs near Kameničany, although it has not been used regularly since 2003. The second order road 507 passes through the village on the section between Nemšová and Púchov .
