Ladce (Slovak until 1927 "Ľadce"; Hungarian Lédec ) is a place and a municipality in the Okres Ilava of Trenčiansky kraj in northwest Slovakia . As of December 31, 2019, the municipality had 2587 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality is located in the Považské podolie (Waag Valley area) on the left bank of the Waag , which is still behind a canal here. The Lúčkovský stream flows through the village . The Strážovské vrchy Mountains rise south-east of the village . Ladce is six kilometers from Ilava and 12 kilometers from Púchov .
The municipality of Tunežice (incorporated in 1976), which is located southwest of the main town , also belongs to the municipality . Other unofficial parts are called Horné Ladce , Podkalište and Podlavičky
history
Several finds of the Lusatian culture have been found in today's municipality . The place Ladce was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1469 as Ledecz , while in the municipality of Tunežice this happened as early as 1397. Until the end of the 19th century, the community was predominantly agricultural. In 1889 a cement works was opened, which was founded by the Viennese large estate owner Adolf Schenk. This company is still active today. In the 1930s the first power plant was built on the Waag, which is also the first large hydroelectric power plant in Slovakia.
