Nová Dubnica is a city in north-western Slovakia .
The town is still quite young; it was built in the 1950s as a housing estate for the Závody ťažkého strojárstva plant . In 1957 the municipality was created by merging parts of the municipal areas of Dubnica nad Váhom , Veľký Kolačín and Trenčianska Teplá . In 1960 it was also granted city rights. In 1971, the municipality of Kolačín, formed in 1960 from Malý Kolačín and Veľký Kolačín, was incorporated. Thus the city districts Nová Dubnica , Malý Kolačín and Veľký Kolačín belong to the city today .
