Peter Baumgartner (* 1955 in Linz ) is an Austrian publicist and former editor-in-chief .

Life

After studying journalism and political science at the University of Salzburg , Peter Baumgartner came to the state of Upper Austria in June 1979 , where he worked in the scientific service in the press department of the Upper Austrian state government. He became the head of the information department and was responsible for all media. Since 1983 Peter Baumgartner was also the editor of the Upper Austrian. Media manual. He organized numerous trips with journalists, including to the Spiegel editorial office in Hamburg or to CNN in Atlanta.

Until his retirement in 2016, Peter Baumgartner was editor-in-chief of the country's illustrated magazine “Our Upper Austria” and the oldest magazine in the country, the Official Linzer Zeitung, for a total of 36 years .

In 2017 Peter Baumgartner received the Great Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria .
