Peter Eisenschenk (born April 27, 1965 in Tulln an der Donau ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). From January 2nd, 2007 to October 27th, 2008 he was a member of the Austrian National Council . Since December 21, 2009 he has been mayor of the municipality of Tulln.

education and profession

After graduating from high school , he studied business education at the Vienna University of Economics from 1984–1991 and at the Johannes Kepler University Linz (Mag. Rer. Soc. Oec.) 1991–1993 and worked from 1988 to 1993 as an editor for the business magazine “trend” . Until he was elected to the National Council, the part-time specialist author taught business administration, accounting and controlling at the Tulln Commercial Academy , which he took over as head on August 1, 2009.

Political career

His political career began in 1997 when he moved to the Tulln municipal council , where he was regularly involved in initiatives, particularly in the environmental and health sectors, and was responsible for city finances. He has been a member of the city ​​council since 2002, and in 2005 he was elected 1st Vice Mayor. Eisenschenk was elected to the National Council in 2006 with over 5,000 preferential votes in the internal election campaign of the Lower Austrian People's Party only after Alfred Brader, a member of the National Council from St. Pölten, resigned . In the National Council election in 2008 he received 6,434 preferential votes, but had to resign from the National Council due to a loss of mandate by the ÖVP in the Lower Central constituency. At the end of 2009, Peter Eisenschenk was elected mayor of Tulln to succeed Willi Stift . In the municipal elections in 2010 and 2015, the Tulln People's Party was able to defend the absolute majority, so that Eisenschenk has now been in office for 10 years.

Peter Eisenschenk is married to the ophthalmologist Angelika Eisenschenk and has a son and a daughter.
