Peter Fiedler (psychologist)

Peter Fiedler (born July 5, 1945 in Doerverden ) is a German psychologist and university professor.

After graduating from high school in Verden in 1969, Fiedler began studying psychology in Münster , where he also received his doctorate (1975) and habilitation (1978) after graduating in 1973. While still a student he became a member of the Society for the Promotion of Behavioral Therapy (GVT), the predecessor association of the German Society for Behavioral Therapy ( DGVT ), on whose board he worked from 1973 to 1976.

Since 1980 he has taught as a professor for clinical psychology and psychotherapy at the University of Heidelberg ; He also works as a psychological psychotherapist and supervisor with a behavioral focus in clinics and the penal system. In his research activities he devoted himself, among other things, to research into the effectiveness of various therapy schools and group therapies.

He is best known through numerous clinical-psychological textbooks. His monograph Personality Disorders is one of the standard works in the German-speaking world.
