Peter Goden

Peter Goden (born May 6, 1968 in Duisburg ) is a German jazz musician, instrumental music teacher and composer.

Life

Peter Goden only came to music at the age of 18, learned classical flute from the Duisburg flutist and composer Karl-Heinz Gebauer, and piano from Karla Frisch, both with the aim of playing jazz. The first bands were the 'Birds of Paradise' and 'RLMadison', the latter a free jazz duo with drummer Birdy Steppuhn. After studying musicology, education and philosophy in Münster and Kiel, he also devoted himself to the saxophone and clarinet and has since worked as a musician, composer, arranger and instrument teacher in Kiel and the surrounding area in Schleswig-Holstein.

Projects

JAZZ ORANGE : In 1998 he founded the band JAZZ ORANGE with drummer Georg von Kügelgen, pianist Stephan Scheja and bassist Moritz Zopf. Together with the bassist Christian Wolff (since 2003), she recorded the first studio CD 'JAZZ ORANGE' in 2015, the second studio CD 'MEER' in 2017 and the third studio CD 'Die große Walomen' with compositions by Peter Goden in 2019. The CDs have been released on the 'orange days records' label founded by Peter Goden. The New Zealand saxophonist and clarinetist Nils Olsen has also been in the band since 2019. Performances in Germany and festivals (Jazz Baltica).

LSQ : Peter Goden is also an alto saxophonist in the Lilienthal Saxophone Quartet LSQ with Uwe Leuenhagen (soprano saxophone), Sabine Normann (tenor saxophone) and Michael Kern (baritone saxophone).
