Peter Hadfield

Peter Robert Hadfield (born January 21, 1955 ) is a former Australian track and field athlete who competed twice in the decathlon at the Olympic Games. He won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games.

At the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton , the decathlon took place on August 7th and 8th. Hadfield was second with 7623 points (7561), but was 844 points behind Englishman Daley Thompson . In 1980 Hadfield finished 13th at the Olympic Games in Moscow with 7709 points (7658). 1982 Hadfield could not build on the success of Edmonton at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane , with 7511 points (7446) he finished fourth. At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles he reached 14th place with 7683 points (7663).

At Australian national championships Hadfield won the title nine times from 1976 to 1985, only in the 1977/78 season he did not take part in the championship.

Hadfield's competition weight was 87 kg with a height of 1.88 m. After his career, Hadfield worked as a television and radio commentator.
