Peter Hinterreiter (born September 5, 1950 in Vorarlberg ) is an Austrian motocross and rally driver , rally organizer and adventure tour operator .

Career

The Bludenzer Peter Hinterreiter, after several decades of motorsport look back on a highly eventful sporting career. The trained grain miller has been involved in motorsport since his youth and was an active motocross driver for 15 years, including six years as a professional for the French team Alain Bosseboeuf .

From 1986 the man from Vorarlberg devoted himself to his second mainstay, organizing adventure and Africa trips, before the thoroughbred athlete partially returned to active motorsport in 1992 and took part in several long-distance rallies. His greatest success was at the Optic2000 in 1992, when he won the two-cylinder class. Furthermore, from 1994 to 1996 Peter Hinterreiter looked after the KTM rally team at the Optic2000 rally in Tunisia and at the absolute classic of the scene, the Dakar rally . In 1996 he reached the finish in Dakar with his Rally Tatra as the only German-speaking team within the classification.

Peter Hinterreiter was also able to appear as a rally organizer , for example he organized the Dahar beginners' rally in the 1990s and, in cooperation with KTM, the Oasis, both in Tunisia.

For several years, Peter Hinterreiter has withdrawn from active sporting life and dedicates himself entirely to his team Hinterreiter, with whom he organizes adventure trips mainly to North Africa and acts as the official return service partner of ADAC and ÖAMTC for the North African region. His excellent reputation as a North Africa and desert expert continues unabated.
