Peter Johan Hustinx (* 1945 in Vught ) is a Dutch data protection expert and the former European data protection officer .
Hustinx holds law degrees in Nijmegen (Netherlands) and Ann Arbor ( USA ). Since 1986 he has been an assistant judge at the Court of Appeal in Amsterdam . Since 1991 he has been President of the College Bescherming Persoonsgegevens (CBP), the data protection authority of the Netherlands. From 1996 to 2000 he was also chairman of the Article 29 data protection group . During his time as President of the CBP, Hustinx was also a member of the joint supervisory body of Europol . From January 2004 to December 2014, Hustinx held the office of European Data Protection Supervisor and as such was again a member of the Article 29 data protection group.
