Peter Imbusch

Peter Imbusch (* 1960 ) is a German sociologist who teaches as a professor at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal .

Career

From 1981 to 1986 Imbusch studied sociology, political science, social and economic history and economics at the University of Marburg . In 1990 he received his doctorate. phil. with a thesis on comparative social structure analysis.

From 1991 to 1993 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Mainz , and research assistant at the Institute for Sociology at the University of Marburg from 1993 to 2000. His habilitation followed in 2001 with a habilitation thesis on civilization and violence .

Since 2001, Imbusch has been a research associate and coordinator of the research association for disintegration processes at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research on Conflict and Violence at Bielefeld University . After various positions as visiting professor and substitute professor, he has been professor of sociology, in particular sociology of politics , at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal from 2011 .
