Peter Jenniskens

Peter Jenniskens (* 1962 ) is a Dutch-American astronomer who works at research institutes at NASA and the SETI project.

He researches the physics of meteor showers , the re-entry of spacecraft into the earth's atmosphere and the impact of asteroids . He found u. a. the original bodies of the Quadrantids (a comet that disintegrated 500 years ago) and the Ursids .

On November 20, 2002, the asteroid (42981) Jenniskens was named after him.
