Peter Johnstone (mathematician)

Peter T. Johnstone (* 1948 ) is a British mathematician.

Johnstone received his doctorate from Frank Adams at Cambridge University in 1974 ( Some aspects of internal category theory in an elementary topos ). He is Professor of Fundamentals of Mathematics at Cambridge University and a Fellow of St. John's College.

He deals with topos theory and with applications of category theory in computer science.

In 1979 he was the first recipient of the Whitehead Prize with Peter Cameron .
