Peter Kühn (Germanist)

Peter Kühn (* 1949 in Berlingen ) is a German linguist and professor emeritus for German linguistics .

Study, research and teaching

After graduating from high school, Peter Kühn studied German and political science at the universities of Bonn and Trier . After the academic examination for teaching at grammar schools in the subjects of German and political science at the University of Trier (1976), he worked as a research assistant in the German linguistics department at the University of Trier. In 1977 Peter Kühn received his doctorate with the dissertation The Basic Vocabulary. Determination and systematisation. In 1981 he passed the second state examination for teaching at vocational schools in the subjects of German and social studies. In 1993, Peter Kühn completed his habilitation at the University of Trier with a linguistic thesis on multiple addresses . Theory of an addressee-specific polyvalence of linguistic action. From 1998 Peter Kühn has been Professor of German Linguistics and German as a Foreign Language in Trier. His research and teaching focuses on the areas of action theory and pragmatics, lexicology and lexicography, phraseology, grammar and syntax, text linguistics, media studies, intercultural semantics and communication, dialectology, didactics and methodology of German as a first, second and foreign language, school books and School development research, Luxembourg studies.
