Peter Kleiss (* 1949 in Dillenburg ) is a German author and music journalist .

Live and act

Kleiss, who learned the saxophone, studied German and politics at the Philipps University in Marburg ; he received his doctorate in Marburg in 1982 on the literary criticism of Georg Herwegh . At the same time, he worked as a freelance journalist before becoming editor at SWF3 in 1982 . Since 1997 he has been working as a jazz editor at Saarländischer Rundfunk . He was also the artistic director of the St. Ingbert International Jazz Festival . From 2013 he is responsible for the jazz talk at JazzBaltica .

He has also published two volumes of poetry. After his retirement, he turned to local cultural work and started several series of literary events.

The journalist Mike Kleiss is his son.
