Peter A. Miglus

Peter A. Miglus (* 1954 ) is Professor of Near Eastern Archeology at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg .

Miglus studied Near Eastern Archeology and Assyriology at the University of Warsaw from 1973 to 1981 , where he received his doctorate in 1981 after obtaining a master's degree in archeology and Assyriology . From 1982 to 1984 he worked as an archaeologist at the Städtisches Museum Göttingen before taking part in research projects at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , where he completed his habilitation in 1995. After further research work for the universities in Halle and Heidelberg, he became associate professor in Heidelberg in 2004. He has visited the Kurdistan Autonomous Region twice a year since 2009, where he carried out excavations in the province of Sulaimaniya at the Bakr Awa site. It is about the first detailed three-dimensional photo documentation of valuable ancient rock reliefs.
