Peter Niedermoser (born August 12, 1961 in Steyr , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian pathologist . He is President of the Medical Association for Upper Austria and a specialist in pathology at the Hospital of the Sisters of Mercy in Linz.

Life

Niedermoser grew up in Adlwang, Upper Austria. His father Johann was a secondary school teacher, his mother Herta a housewife, he has a brother, Markus. During his studies he was involved in university politics. After completing his studies in medicine at the University of Vienna in 1989, Peter Niedermoser began the rotation as general practitioner at the hospital of the Barmherzigen Schwestern Linz, which he completed in 1992 with the Ius Practicandi . This was followed by training as a specialist in clinical pathology . Since 2000 he has been a specialist at the Institute for Pathology of the Barmherzigen Schwestern Linz, since 2002 senior physician. He has been married to the journalist Michaela Ecklbauer since 2001 and lives in Linz.

Work at the medical association

Niedermoser began his commitment to the concerns of doctors as the section chairman of the regular doctors in Upper Austria. Until 2001 he was deputy chairman of the board of directors of employed doctors in Upper Austria, at the same time he was chairman of the federal section of regular doctors in the Austrian Medical Association . From 2003 to 2005 he held the office of Vice President of the Medical Association for Upper Austria , then he took over the office of President from Otto Pjeta. In 2007 and 2012 he was confirmed in his position. In addition to the office of president in Upper Austria, Niedermoser is also chairman of the education committee of the Austrian Medical Association and works in committees and working groups in the Ministry of Health. Since January 2013 Peter Niedermoser has been President of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Academy of Doctors.
