Peter Stettner is a German author and director of the Hanover Film Institute at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences , Faculty III - Media, Information and Design.

Life

Peter Stettner did his doctorate at the University of Hanover on the subject from rubble film to dream factory. “The Young Film Union” 1947 - 1952. A case study on West German film production.

Among other things, Stettner has been the author of numerous articles in CineGraph - Lexicon for German-language film since 1988 .

The Hanover Film Institute, which he heads, emerged from the cultural archive at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences, which was founded in December 1995 as part of a cooperation between the Hanover University of Applied Sciences, the University of Hanover and the Hanover University of Music and Drama. The film institute carries out research tasks in the field of film and history in Lower Saxony and has the following scientific work areas:

  • Research, collection, documentation and utilization of films and film historical materials,
  • The investigation of historical film stocks in Lower Saxony with regard to their importance as sources for historical research,

  • Digitization, long-term storage and processing of historical film documents for educational work.

As an employee at the multimedia “History Learning Workshop”, Peter Stettner is responsible for the “Film and History” area. Stettner is also the head of the projects

  • "Securing, utilization and presentation of the Hanover films", as well as
  • "Historical film stocks in Lower Saxony".

Peter Stettner
