Peter Ward (born July 27, 1955 in Derby , United Kingdom ) is a former English football player .

Ward moved in 1975 from the club Burton Albion to the third division Brighton & Hove Albion . The transfer fee for the striker was £ 4000. After half a year in the reserve team, he made his debut in the professional team on March 27, 1976 in the league game against Hereford United and scored his first goal for the club in the first minute.

In the 1976/77 season he set a new club record with 36 goals and secured his club promotion to the Second Division. In 1979 he rose to the First Division with Brighton.

After a hat trick in an international match of the England U-21 national team, he was invited by national coach Ron Greenwood to the World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg in October 1977 , but remained on the bench as a substitute. His only appearance in the national team, he played on May 31, 1980 in England's 2-1 victory over Australia.

In October 1980 Ward moved to the first division club Nottingham Forest . For the club he played 28 games in which he scored seven goals. Since he could not establish himself as a regular player, he was loaned to the Seattle Sounders in the North American Soccer League in 1982 . After returning to Brighton for a short time, he played for various clubs in North America until 1987, where he lives today.
