Peter Zangl

Peter Zangl (born October 12, 1946 ) is a German economist and former EU civil servant. From 2008 to 2011 he was Director General of the European Humanitarian Aid Office .

biography

Zangl attended school in France from 1952 to 1963. He then studied economics at the universities of Rouen and Cologne , where he passed his diploma examination in 1970. In 1974 he received his doctorate there with a thesis on "Regional political objectives and strategies in France: illustrated using the example of Picardy".

He then worked at the Rhenish-Westphalian Institute for Economic Research and in 1978 joined the European Commission . There he went through a career in several Directorates General before taking over the management of the Humanitarian Aid Office from 2008 to June 2011.
