Peter de Heyno
Peter de Heyno was the feudal lord of Stenbury, Isle of Wight , and served under King Edward III .
In 1377 an enemy army of French and Castilians invaded the Isle of Wight, destroying the two towns of Yarmouth and Newtown. They then besieged Carisbrooke Castle. During this siege, Peter de Heyno killed their leader with an arrow, fired through his "Silver Bow". He hit through a loop in the fortress, now also called "De Heyno's Loop". The defenders then defeated the French army in a sortie led by Sir Hugh Tyrell. The attackers then withdrew after making a payment.
