Peters Island is a small, crescent-shaped and up to 45 m high island off the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . It belongs to the group of the Rauer Islands and is located 2 km south of the Browns Glacier .
The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it after the geodesist Nigel Peters of the Australian Surveying and Land Information Group , who carried out surveys in the Rauer group between 1989 and 1990.
