The Peterskirche in Kirchheimbolanden is the Reformed parish church of the municipality.

history

In the course of the Reformation , the church, whose tower dates from the 12th century, fell to the Protestants . It was restored in 1664. In 1738, the Lutheran Prince Carl-August von Nassau-Weilburg promised the Reformed Church of Kirchheimbolandens that St. Peter's Church would be used as a place of worship if the latter would pay 3,000 Reichstaler for it. In this way he partially financed the Lutheran castle church.

Count Heinrich II of Sponheim-Bolanden († 1394), who raised Kirchheimbolanden to town in 1368 and made it his residence, is buried under the Romanesque choir tower .
