Karl August (Nassau-Weilburg)
Karl August (born September 17, 1685 in Weilburg ; † November 9, 1753 ibid) was Prince of Nassau-Weilburg from 1719 to 1753 .
Life
Karl August was the second son of Johann Ernst von Nassau-Weilburg and Maria Polyxena von Leiningen-Dagsburg-Hartenburg . He entered the Saxon service when he was young , was the Saxon ambassador to the French court in Paris and on February 27, 1719, followed his father as prince in Weilburg.
In 1733 and 1734, as Imperial General of the Cavalry, he commanded the Palatinate troops on the Rhine .
As early as 1688, the family was elevated to the rank of prince with an imperial letter of nobility . However, this was not carried out because it was not associated with the admission to the Imperial Council of Prince . Karl August took part in the September 27, 1737 but the title of Prince of the Kingdom of, but without the line of Nassau-Usingen ( Nassau-Idstein was in 1721 with the death of Karl August's father Georg August in the male line extinct), the 1688 costs presented for the certification fee of the Prince's diploma.
Karl August died in 1753. His grave is in the castle church of Weilburg . He was followed by his only son, Karl Christian .

He married Princess Auguste Friederike von Nassau-Idstein (1699–1750) daughter of Prince Georg August in Wiesbaden on August 17, 1723 . They had the following seven children:

The since 2000 as Grand Duke of Luxembourg reigning Henri of Nassau is the six-time great-grandson of Karl August of Nassau-Weilburg.
