List of domestic dogs

The Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen (Small Basset Griffon Vendéen) is a French breed recognized by the FCI ( No. 67, Gr. 6, Sec. 1.3 ).

history

For a long time, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen had the same standard as its larger relative, the Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen , they only differed in size. However, when it was smaller, it was just as heavy as the Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen and had crooked legs, so its use did not produce good results. M. Abel Dezamy therefore created his own breeding standard for the Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen. Now not only was the size of this breed smaller, but all dimensions also decreased in proportion to their height. The result was a good hunting dog, and a pack of Petit Basset Griffon Vendéens even took first place in the first French rabbit hunting championship.

description
