Pyotr Petrovich Kulish

Pyotr Petrovich Kulisch ( Russian Петр Петрович Кулиш , English transcription Petr Kulish ; * February 24, 1944 , † 2016 ) was a Russian mathematical physicist and professor in Saint Petersburg .

Life

Kulisch received his doctorate in 1971 under Ludwig Faddejew at the University of Leningrad ( Asymptotic Conditions and Infrared Divergenies in the Quantum Field Theory ). He was a doctor of phys.-math. Sciences, professor, chief scientist and director of the laboratory for mathematical problems of physics at the St. Petersburg Steklow Institute .

At Faddejew, he initially dealt with the mathematical treatment of the infrared problem in quantum electrodynamics. He also deals with precisely integrable systems in quantum mechanics (with applications in solid state physics, quantum optics) and quantum field theory and the underlying algebraic structures (such as quantum groups). Among other things, he dealt with the non-linear Schrödinger equation, the quantum inverse scattering method, precisely integrable systems in superconforming field theories (Super KdV hierarchies), the connection between the Yang-Baxter equation and reflection groups, quantum deformed Minkowski space and the general use of quantum algebras for the construction of non-commutative space- Times.

Among other things, he was at the Yukawa Institute at Kyoto University.
