Petra Leidinger

Petra Leidinger (born February 5, 1966 ) is a former German shot putter .

In 1986 she became German indoor champion and fifth at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Madrid .

Shortly afterwards she ended her sporting career. In 1991, she publicly announced that she had been pressured by her trainer Franz-Josef Simon to take doping substances . The disgust for these practices and the side effects that she had noticed in herself had led her to quit. Simon and the former national coach Christian Gehrmann , who was also charged by Leidinger , were investigated for violating the Medicines Act , but the proceedings were discontinued due to the statute of limitations .

Petra Leidinger started for VT Zweibrücken.
