Petras Baguška

Petras Baguška (born July 24, 1941 in Paškoniai , Rajongemeinde Pasvalys , Lithuania ) is a Lithuanian lawyer and politician. From 2006 to 2008 he was Minister of Justice of Lithuania .

Life

Baguška studied law at Vilnius University from 1966 to 1972 and from 1974 to 1976 at the University of the CPSU in Leningrad . This was followed by economic studies at the Agricultural Academy (1981–1985).

He worked in various positions in the local government of Pasvalys, Kupiškis counties and at the agricultural bank in Kėdainiai . Through his activity in Kėdainiai he got into national politics when the entrepreneur Viktor Uspaskich from Kėdainiai founded his own party, the Labor Party . From 2003-2005 Petras Baguška was a member of the Labor Party and entered the Lithuanian Parliament in November 2004 . After leaving the Labor Party on December 22, 2005, he was initially non-attached, before joining the newly formed Civic Democratic Party (PDP) on May 2, 2006 . On July 18, 2006, he was nominated by the PDP, Minister of Justice in the cabinet of Gediminas Kirkilas . Shortly before the 2008 elections , he moved to the Social Democratic Group in April 2008 . However, he was unable to secure a place on the list or a constituency for a direct mandate in the internal candidate elections . On December 9, 2008, he resigned as Minister of Justice.
