Petri Alanko

Petri Alanko (born October 17, 1963 in Joensuu ) is a Finnish flautist .

Life

Alanko studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki before moving to the Freiburg Music Academy . In 1998 he won first prize at the Kobe International Flute Festival in Japan and a year later at the ARD International Music Competition . This was followed by engagements in Germany, the USA and Japan in addition to his active career in Finland. From 1987 to 1988 he worked as a solo flutist in and then switched to the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra . He also works with the Finnish Chamber Orchestra and teaches at the Sibelius Academy.
