Petrus Vertenten

Petrus Vertenten (born October 3, 1884 in Hamme , † February 13, 1946 in Borgerhout ) was a Belgian missionary of the religious order of the Sacred Heart Missionaries in Dutch New Guinea .

Vertenten worked on the south coast of Dutch New Guinea from 1910 to 1925 under the Marind-anim , a Papuan people in the wider area of Merauke , and can be described as an authority on knowledge about them.
