Petter Halfdan Rudolf Fredrik Olsen (* 1948 in Norway ) is a Norwegian entrepreneur and art collector .

Life

Olsen comes from the Norwegian entrepreneurial family Olsen, who owned the Fred. Olsen & Co. is involved. Olsen is also the main shareholder in the Aktiengesellschaft Firmament A / S, which emerged from the Fred Olsen Group and to which other subsidiaries belong. Olsen is also chairman of the boards of two companies. Petter Olsen inherited from his mother Henriette Olsen the collection of paintings that his parents had acquired in the course of their lives.

The pastel version of The Scream of 1895 was sold to Leon Black on May 2, 2012 at a Sotheby’s auction in New York for US $ 119,922,500 . That was the highest price for a work of art ever achieved at an auction. There was a legal dispute over the inheritance between the two brothers Fredrick and Petter Olsen as a result of the sale of this painting.
