The company was one of the oldest chocolate factories in Germany. His business premises were originally in the house at Am See 10 and from 1855 to 1898 on the property at Fabrikstrasse 49 (later Zwickauer Strasse 22). In the years 1897/1898 , a new factory was built on the site of the former Reisewitzer Garden , on the corner plot of Bienertstrasse 1 / Tharandter Strasse, where production continued until it was destroyed on April 17, 1945. The products were among the brands Edda , Pea and German masters expelled.

Petzold, whose last name was also often written Petzoldt during his lifetime , left the company in 1873. Aulhorn, who was awarded the honorary title of (Royal Saxon) Commerce Councilor , initially lived with his family in the Villa Elsa-Brändström-Straße 13 in Dresden-Strehlen with a large park-like garden. Later they lived in the Villa Leubnitzer Strasse 20 (destroyed in 1945). Aulhorn and his wife Charlotte Amalie nee. Weigel (1825–1897) had five children. The two sons Ernst Oskar Aulhorn and Paul Rudolf Aulhorn later became partners and co-owners of the chocolate factory:

  • Ernst Oskar Aulhorn (born March 22, 1851 in Dresden; † December 21, 1894 in Dresden) was a partner from 1874 as a merchant and lived with his wife Thekla Amelie nee. Kimmel (1858–1934) and their six children in the Aulhorn'schen Villa on the old factory site at Zwickauer Straße 22 (destroyed in 1945).
  • Paul Rudolf Aulhorn (born April 13, 1866 in Dresden; † August 29, 1907), married to Johanne Siegfriede geb. Ostberg (* 1871), as a merchant and royal Saxon commercial councilor, was co-owner and board member of CC Petzold & Aulhorn AG from 1891 .

The family grave is located on the Old Annenfriedhof in Dresden.
