Pfaffenberg Bridge

The Pfaffenbergbrücke is a railway bridge of the Tauernbahn in the Austrian municipality of Reißeck . It was after the completion in 1971 with 200 m span Europe, the largest arch bridge made of reinforced concrete , which is used by the railway. The two-track structure is located in Carinthia near Obervellach and spans a transverse valley of the Mölltal at a maximum height of 100 m. It was built as part of the re-routing of the Tauern Railway to replace an older steel bridge.

The bridge has a total length of 377 m. The 10 m wide reinforced concrete superstructure rests for the most part on an arch spanning 200 m, which is clamped into the fighter foundations and has an arrow height of 50 m.

The arch was made on a self- supporting falsework with a step-by-step structure of the arch cross-section.

The Falkenstein Bridge is about 1 km further uphill on the same route .
